I officially have my second tattoo! After many years of “kind of thinking about it” and many months of “I'm ready for this” and many days of “what do I want permanently inked into my skin” I finally decided to go with a quote from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” I could go into why I decided to go with this quote, but I'm not. if you’d really like to know I'll tell you but for the sake of brevity I'll just go with the fact that I want a half or quarter sleeve of book quotes and HP seemed like a good place to start.
As for placement, I went with the inside of my upper right arm. Easy to hide if I need to (but this bitch hurt so I never want to hide it) but still visible to me and others without being trashy. The pain was a little more than I was expecting but nothing I couldn’t handle. the top and middle lines were uncomfortable and the bottom like felt similar to a hot blade carving my flesh. I’m pretty sure it was the most painful thing I’ve ever felt (that was a result of something outside my body) and I can absolutely see why people cry and/or pass out when getting a tattoo in that area. I still get a little queasy when I think about it.
I got the tattoo at Upstate Ink in Ballston Spa. I highly recommend it. The artist freehanded the font and word placement from a picture I had on my phone and it came out nearly identical. He was quick and professional and was pretty impressed with my ability to handle the pain. The tattoo itself took about 20 minutes.
I want to thank Matt for finding this gorgeous font for me and for designing the look of it. And thank you to Sarah for being there with me for moral support!
